At Mountain Camp Marin, we are committed to making every day feel like an adventure, but there’s something extra special about our Wacky Wednesdays. This weekly tradition combines creativity, excitement, and, of course, a healthy dose of silliness. 

Every Wednesday at MCM brings a different and exciting theme, giving campers and counselors the chance to dress up. From magical Harry Potter-inspired looks to Hero or Villain costumes, the theme sets the stage for a day full of fun activities! The morning begins with a lively fashion show where campers and counselors strut their stuff, showing off their costumes on a makeshift runway while everyone cheers them on. 

Wacky Wednesdays are definitely not just about dressing up! They’re about making the whole day unforgettable. In the afternoons, the fun kicks up a notch with unique, one-time-only activities that change every week. Think giant slip-and-slides to cool off, surprise outdoor performances, or epic water fights! And for our youngest campers, the Cubs, it’s their chance to step up and get a taste of what it’s like to be an older camper by creating their own schedules and diving into even more freedom and fun. Don’t forget the awesome custom Tie Dye shirts you can make! Everyone, counselors and campers, wear their own tie dye shirts on Fridays for an epic last day of bright colors and high spirits to top off the week.

From Camper to Leader: Mountain Camp Marin’s CILT Program 

Ready to level up your camp experience? Welcome to Mountain Camp Marin’s Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program! Designed for our middle school-aged Alpiners (aka the camp’s eldest and coolest crew), this optional program blends leadership, fun, and plenty of “aha” moments into one unforgettable summer adventure.  

What’s CILT All About?  

Think of the CILT program as your crash course in leadership… camp style! It’s where you’ll learn to lead games and activities like a pro, handle tricky conversations confidently, and spot and engage campers who might need extra encouragement. Your contributions make camp magic, from planning our end-of-week Campfire to tackling Wacky Wednesday coordination!

How It Works  

CILTs dedicate two activity blocks a day to leadership training. The first block focuses on skills like giving instructions, managing group dynamics, and navigating conflict (because even campfires can spark drama). Then, you’ll pair up and practice what you’ve learned by working directly with younger camper groups—leading activities, sharing feedback, and seeing the impact you make firsthand.  

Work Hard, Play Hard  

CILTs don’t just lead—they play! After your AM CILT periods, it’s back to full-time camper life for the rest of your elective schedule. Whether it’s perfecting a magic trick, choreographing a dance, or diving into live-action role play, you’ll get to soak up all the fun Mountain Camp Marin has to offer.

The CILT program is equal parts leadership training and community building. You’ll bond with your fellow CILTs through team-building games, share laughs, and create memories that stick long after summer fades.
