Preparing for Day Camp

New Camper Orientation

Our camper orientation is done as a Zoom webinar in early June! This is a great opportunity to get to learn more about camp and meet some of the leadership team!

First Day of Camp Routine

We will start our camper check-in at 8:50am. A Staff member will help your camper out of the car and walk them directly to their group.

While we continue to check-in other campers, your child is will meet their counselors and other kids in their group. When all of the campers are checked-in, the counselors will start to organize their camp groups and go over our camp orientation.

Regular Day Camp Check-In

After the first day of Day Camp, the parking lot will be set up for you to simply pull up and drop-off your camper with one of our directors (there is no need to park). We will walk them over to our check-in tables and get them to their camp group. Camper check-in starts every morning at 8:50am.

Regular Day Camp Pick-Up

In the afternoon, we will set up the  parking lot for our camper pick-up. Tell our staff member your camper’s name, and we will have them waiting for you when you pull up to the pick-up spot. Pick up for cubs is from 2:45pm-3:00pm and pick up for campers is between 4:30pm-4:45pm.

Early Camper Pick-Up

If you have to pick your camper up early, not a problem. Please complete our Early Camper Pick-Up Request Form the night before or let our staff know during check-in that your camper will be picked early so we can get them on our “early pick-up” list.

PM Extended Care

Mountain Camp Marin is able to offer our PM Extended Care to meet our Day Camp families’ scheduling needs.  Our PM Care extends your camper’s day and the pick-up is up to 5:30pm.  The campers will be moving around the camp doing different activities while they wait for their parents to arrive so please check in with the Camp Office for their daily location.

Cell Phones and Electronics Policy

Campers may not bring electronic devices to camp. We believe camp is a great opportunity for children to be independent from their parents, in a safe and supportive environment, for a short period of time. After many discussions with camp parents and careful consideration, we are no longer allowing electronic devices at Mountain Camp Marin. This includes Music Players (iPods, MP3s, etc.), Hand Held Games (DS, PSP, etc.), Cell Phones, Electronic Readers (Kindles, iPads, etc.), Laptops and Radios. As electronic devices have grown increasingly more complex (with features like video, internet access, etc.), we believe they disrupt the camp environment and have the potential to negatively impact the camper’s experience. Cameras are allowed. We recommend a disposable camera

Not Allowed At Camp

We do not allow pets, weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco or other banned substances at camp.

What to Bring for Day Camp

Please label everything so we can more easily return it to you if it is left behind:

  • A bag or backpack
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Water bottle – Campers should bring their own water bottles with their name on it from home. If someone loses theirs, we will have bottled water to give out.
  • Hat
  • Extra layer
  • Sunblock. Even though we will apply sunscreen to the campers throughout the day, it is always a good idea to apply liberally in the morning before drop-off.

Lost and Found

Lost and found items will be kept in a designated spot in the Camp Office throughout the summer. Please check with the Camp Directors if you believe an item of yours was left behind at camp. We are unable to store lost and found items once camp is over and we will donate any unclaimed items after the final day of camp.

Medication

If your camper needs medication during the day, it must be turned in to the Camp Directors. All medicine must be in the original container. Due to licensing, Camp Nurses are not allowed to dispense any medication not in their original containers.
