About Mountain Camp Marin: Values and Philosophy
Mountain Camp Marin is a co-ed summer day camp for camper entering grades K – 8th. We are located at the beautiful Mark Day School in San Rafael, California.
Mountain Camp Marin’s program is designed to build confidence, grow independence, encourage friendships and develop important social and emotional learning skills. In today’s hectic and high-tech world, we believe a back-to-basics approach to outdoor recreation and plain ol’ fashion “fun” is crucial to building a child’s positive self-image and understanding of community. Building on our 3 year research study with the Stanford Graduate School of Education on the beneficial impacts of the camp experience on child development, Mountain Camp Marin works to create the feeling of an overnight camp experience in a day camp program. We offer opportunities for our campers to choose their own activities, giving them agency over their day.
We believe a quality summer camp experience provides education, challenge, achievement and acceptance. Our unique atmosphere allows children to learn in a fun and safe environment that encourages independence while nurturing lasting friendships.
